The most efficient heating and cooling systems that are code compliant are Heat Pump Central systems and Mini Split heat pumps - ducted or non ducted.

Water Heaters

Heat Pump water heaters are the most efficient water heaters at the present, allowing for much higher efficiency than on demand.  Electric on demand is not an efficient product at the moment and does not pass code in many scenarios.
